Detroit, January 2009.

In January, the international motor industry always starts the new year with the Detroit Auto Show. Here, manufacturers from all over the world show off their new models and developments. This time, at this major meeting of the industry, POOLgroup was part of the party – on behalf of VW and Audi, who proved themselves to be up to the occasion, with big shows and presentations.

Two different challenges.

POOL was responsible for co-ordinating the multimedia presentations on both exhibition stands and ensuring first class sound. Here, a particular sound experience had to be created on the exhibition stand itself, but not result in adverse effects in the surroundings and on neighbouring stands.
Furthermore, voice transmission during the press conference in the run-up to the trade fair was also on the agenda. “The sound engineering during the show and at the press conference represented two very different challenges,” says Benjamin Stillecke, Technical Manager of the POOLgroup. “We therefore also produced two completely different sound scenarios.”

Perfect integration into the architecture of the exhibition stand.

Trade fair projects are always about the perfect integration of the required installations into the architecture of the stand. Here, the specification of the customer was that no large loudspeaker systems were to be visible. As such, POOL used the compact but powerful Meyer sound system with the new UPQ-1P loudspeakers.

Strong partners, global range.

The POOLgroup team was supported on site by a longstanding co-operation partner, Thunder Audio. “We have been supporting each other for many years with projects in our respective different continents,” emphasises Stefan Buengeler, Key Account Manager at POOL. “This co-operation is fantastic, as we are able to use the same equipment. Consequently, we are able to offer our customers a genuinely global range.”
