Carl Cordier and Jürgen Schürmann – the two managing directors of the POOLgroup – openly and publicly stand by their corporate responsibility. As businessmen, they are speaking out for investment in education now, even in these difficult times, “as our future is in the hands of the professionals of tomorrow.”
With this statement, since 8th June, they have been present all over the Steinfurt area on large posters advertising the Steinfurt encouragers initiative, which is supported by the German federal employment agency, the Northern Westphalian chamber of industry and commerce, co-operative banks and savings banks, and a whole series of companies – including the POOLgroup.
“We decided straight away to become involved,” explains Carl Cordier, “aside from anything else, simply because we have deeply embedded roots in this region.” His co-director Jürgen Schürmann can only endorse this: “particularly in difficult times, you have to do something to stop people getting down. Pessimism is the last thing we need at the moment.”
The subject of education is particularly dear to the two directors. As Cordier and Schürmann emphasise unanimously: the young people of today are ultimately the key players of tomorrow. “Even if you have to save on costs, education is the wrong button to press,” Cordier explains. Without qualified staff, no company is able to ensure success in the future. Naturally, these words are also matched by actions. The POOLgroup remains one of the largest training providers in the region and is proud that its trainees regularly achieve top results in their exams.
