I am Carl Cordier, the founder and now one of the managing directors of the POOLgroup. I was born in 1956 in Münsterland, which is my home and an area to which I still feel obliged and indebted.

I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember, and nothing has changed in this respect. However, instead of rocking the stage as a bassist, I chose a different career path: working behind the scenes, operating the mixing desk

After gaining some initial experience as a sound engineer, in 1978 I founded my own company Westfalen Sound – the nucleus of the current POOLgroup. Since then, the company and group has continued to grow, and as such, my own role and responsibilities have changed. It was always important to me to not work behind a desk as an entrepreneur and manager; instead I always wanted to be active in the operational side of the business. As a result, I spend the majority of my time in the POOLsound and POOLproduction units; however I am always available to advise and support when I can assist the other units. After all, teamwork is written large here. And so it should be!

Jürgen Schürmann (right)

I am Jürgen Schürmann. I was born in 1963 and I am also a born and bred Westphalian. After working as an independent event technician, I joined the POOLgroup at the end of the 1980s.

As a lighting specialist, I initially worked to establish the POOLlight unit – formerly known as "The Light Concept" – before moving on to other subsidiaries.

Nowadays I work alongside Carl Cordier as the second managing director of the POOLgroup. I am mainly responsible for the POOLlight and POOLpicture units, although there are no real divisions within the group – we all believe that, in our business, everything must go hand-in-hand to do a good job. And that is precisely our task.
