Every four years the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IG BCE) – organizes a so-called Trade Union Congress. The fourth Congress took place in October 2009 in Hannover, headquarters of IG BCE.

From all over Germany several hundred delegates of various regional districts have met for a period of 5 days in order to gather and to exchange information and to take important decisions such as for example the election of the Main Board for the future years or even to celebrate in the evening after work has been done.

The term “Congress” implies to be a single event - in fact, however, there were many different meetings which are summarized under this headline.

The congress was opened with a ceremony, accompanied by an exhibition and an extensive cultural program taking place at various locations. Top-class guests gave speeches: Federal President, Chancellor and Federal Employment Minister, provided with the necessary security precautions - a difficult challenge, comprising the entire spectrum of possible event types and therefore demanding somebody who really was in a position to comply with these requirements: POOLgroup.

The manifold activities, which took place partly simultaneously or consecutively, needed appropriate space which was provided by the Hannover Congress Center HCC. The entire congress - including its side events - was planned carefully and professionally to be realized in this location. Under the control and oversight of a general responsible person several project-teams for the single events started to elaborate the technical requirements and to execute and realize them when scheduled.

Besides and even before the technical and logistic realization POOLcreation was demanded. By means of reality computer simulations the IG BCE was in a position to get a specific and clear idea of its Congress even months before. At first a new stage design for the Congress hall was virtually developed – its core was an enormous projection screen. A design concept was necessary, which was integrated into the superior Corporate Design of the Congress, but which also offered enough scope for different contents which should be presented within the course of five days. Similar requirements had to be fulfilled during the opening ceremony in the impressive HCC Cupola Hall. Due to the fact that the drafts were always based on a technical planning, they could be realized without any problems and in accordance with the calculated and determined costs.
