Carl Cordier

I am Carl Cordier, the founder and now one of the managing directors of the POOLgroup. I was born in 1956 in Münsterland, which is my home and an area to which I still feel obliged and indebted.

From an early age, my passion was for music and this has not changed even today. However, instead of rocking the stage as a bassist, my career led in a different direction: behind the scenes and to the mixing desk.

After my early experiences as a sound engineer, I founded the company Westfalensound in 1978. This was the seed of the present-day POOLgroup. Since then, the company and the group have grown steadily and my tasks and responsibilities have changed as a result. Nonetheless, one thing has always been important to me: to not work solely as a businessman and manager at a desk but to always be active in the operational business. Here, I mainly look after the areas of POOLsound and POOLproduction, although I am also always on hand with help and advice if I can make a contribution in the other units. Ultimately, teamwork is very important to us and that is a good thing!

Jürgen Schürmann

I am Jürgen Schürmann, of vintage 1963 and also a genuine Westphalian. After a number of years in my career as an independent events technician, I joined the present-day POOLgroup at the end of the 80s.

As a specialist in the area of “light”, I started by establishing the POOLlight unit – formerly known as “The Light Concept” – then continued to the other subsidiaries.

Today, alongside Carl Cordier, I am the second managing director of the POOLgroup, with specific responsibility for the areas of POOLlight and POOLpicture. Nonetheless there is no real, clear division within the group, as we are firmly convinced that everything in the business must work together in order for us to do a really good job – and that is exactly what we aim to do.
